While traveling along the Pecos Trail, there are unique roadside heritage sights you may want to take time to notice.

Descansos- the haunting "altars" placed by loved ones at site of fatal road accidents. A descansos is an old Spanish name word meaning rest or resting place.
The "fruit' stage of prickly pear blossums- watch for catus wren among the thorns. Prickly Pear have been used by Native Americans, generations of Mexicans, and Texas ranchers many different purposes through time.
tyingonspur A working cowboy's spur, a true work of art, especially when dressed up with a "jingle bell" by a custom bootmaker, may be seen at local rodeos's, cattle drives and - if you are lucky - at the neighorhood convenience store.
The hundreds and hundreds of markers placed along the Pecos Trail and throughout Texas, indicating important moments in the history of the destination

Please, feel free to submit a uniquely Texas roadside "heritage" site to info@texaspecostrail.com (jpgs only, no larger than 220 pixels wide).
